HABE will verify asymmetric and partial language profiles
Thenew Decree forthe Standardization of the Use of the Basque Country in the Administration established last year new models for the allocation of language profiles and defined three types of requirements: symmetric, asymmetric and partial. Depending on the characteristics of the job and the sociolinguistic reality, the corresponding body will determine the requirements for each post.
The Vice-President of the Basque Government and Counsellor for Culture and Linguistic Policy, Ibone Bengoetxea, has made the details known during her weekly appearance after the Governing Council, stating that "the accreditation processes of HABE are adapted to the needs of the new linguistic profiles that are emerging and are emerging in the public sector".
To this end, the Government has initiated, by means of an order, the procedurefor amending the Decree on the Standardization of the Use of the Euskera in the Basque Public Sector (Decree 19/2024). "We have made changes to the Order so that these new linguistic profiles can be accredited by any citizen in the HABE examination calls."
The forecast is to be ableto check these language profiles for the autumn HABE exam call.

Bengoetxea has made another announcement: A2 will extend the free learning of the Basque language to the next course. "The Government will continue the free policies implemented in previous courses in 2025-2026, for which it will allocate 4.86 million euros, 52.9% more than last year".
In the next course, students at basic levels A1-A2 and young people between the ages of 16 and 18 who wish to improve their communication skills at level C1 will have free tuition for the course.
"The main objective of the free program is to make learning the Basque language easier and accessible to all (...)
