Will the time change on Sunday morning, for the last time?

In the early morning from Saturday to Sunday  time will be changed and we will move from summer time to winter time. This may be the last year in which the change takes place, with Spain proposing to reopen the debate on the withdrawal of the measure in the European Union.

At three o'clock in the morning the clock will have to be delayed until two o'clock, so the Sunday day will be 60 minutes longer.

The change was introduced decades ago and is repeated twice a year: in March the clock is brought forward by an hour and in October it is delayed by an hour. The purpose of this change is to adapt to daylight hours according to the seasons  and improve energy efficiency.

This year, however, could be the last time, since thePresidentof the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, has proposed to the EU that the measure be finalised once and for all. This is a complex decision which was dealt with in the European Parliament in 2019 but which was not agreed.

What time zone do you set up?

In the case of the Iberian peninsula, the time zone established does not correspond to its geographical location.  For political reasons, the time set in 1940 was the same as that established in Germany or Italy, although  corresponds to the time of the Canary Islands, Portugal or the United Kingdom.

With regard to the timetable to be established, if winter timewere to be established throughout the year , the country would be more aligned with the position of the sun, so that it would light up and obscure an hour earlier than it is now. This would bring Spain closer to European customs and bring forward meals and sleep.
