An emotional tribute to the 229 people who died at the GOIDI in Valencia
Photographs of the victims have been shown and testimonies of relatives have been heard at the Olympia theatre in Valencia. The act ended with the cry of "Mazon resigned", the same motto of the demonstration that will cross the centre of Valencia this afternoon.

On 29 October, itwill be one year since GOIDIA took place in Valencia, and on the occasion of its anniversary, Valencian society has paid a heartfelt and warm tribute to the 229 people who died in the floods. They have wanted to give a symbolic embrace to the victims and their families and have called for truth and justice.
The tribute has been organized by the Goidi Victims Association on 29 October 2024, in collaboration with the Goiadia Deceased Association and the Association of Affected Persons L'Horta Sud, theOlympia Theatre of Valencia n .
The photo and names of each deceased, as well as the images of the devastation left by the floods, have been projected during the event. The relatives and friends of the victims have read harsh testimonies reminding the dead and sharing the pain.
Beatriz Garrote, president of the 2006 Valencia Metro Victims Association , also attended the event. She took the floor and stated that "it is an honour to be able to give encouragement and support" to the families of the victims because "it will be a long way to go".
With the whole theater standing up, the event, which lasted two hours, ended with a loud ovation, with boots, brooms and muddy buckets on the stage. Behind it were volunteers and presidents of the three associations of victims holding a banner saying, "And now let us all raise our voices for those who can no longer lift it," in Valencian.
The event ended with the "resignation of Mazon", the same motto of the demonstration that will cross the center of Valencia this afternoon. Thousands of people will again demand the resignationof the president of Valencia Generality for his management in GOIDIA.
The public also included the Minister of Science and Secretary-General of the PSPV-PSOE, Diana Morant, the representative of the Valencian Government, Pilar Bernabé, and the former Vice-President of the Valencian Government, Monica Oltra.
