Thousands of people have gathered at the Arriaga Theatre at 5.30 p.m. at the starting point of the great mobilization that will end on the esplanade of the San Mamés stadium. From 8.30 p.m. on ETB1, eitb.eus and the Orain portals, as well as on the radios of the EITB Group, the Euskal Selekzioa-Palestine football match can be followed.
Thousands of people have joined the solidarity pasacalles called by the Gernika-Palestine initiative alongside the Gure Esku and Gu ere Bai platforms, under the slogan "Free peoples, stop genocide", in the run-up to the Euskal Selekzioa-Palestine selections match.
The march started after 5:30 from the lobby of the Arriaga Theatre, towards San Mamés.
The aim of the initiative is to show that "Palestine and the Basque Country have the right to freedom" and that "the two peoples together have a great deal of strength". The initiative also aims to denounce "loud and clear" the genocide in Gaza.
To finish the march, the Palestinian community will receive a tribute on the San Mamés esplanade before the match. All Palestinians killed will be remembered with the arrival of the buses of both teams.
A delegation from EH Bildu led by Pello Otxandiano is also taking part in the kalejira. Members of the independence coalition will take to San Mamés this week the Ikurriña held in Ramallah, in the West Bank, "after crossing the Jordanian border and overcoming the blockade, established border controls and Israeli oppression", they have explained.
Among others, the Minister for Youth and Children of the Spanish Government, Sira Rego, is also participating.
Two more mobilizations
At 6:30 p.m. another march will begin in the Arenal, promoted by the Solidarity with Palestine group, in solidarity with Palestine and in demand of the official status of the Euskal Selekzioa. Several sports animation groups have joined the call, such as the Popular Stand Iñigo Cabacas, the Impulse, the Red Force or the Revolution.
In addition, at 7:00 p.m. there will be another mobilization called by the university community, which will depart from the School of Engineering near San Mamés to claim "the right of the Palestinian people to be free."
