The woman arrested in Gernika-Lumo on charges of killing her partner has been provisionally released
The 54-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday on charges of allegedly killing her husband on 22 November 2025. After being brought before the judge, the court has ordered her provisional release.
When the events came to light, the emergency service received a warning that a neighbor had asked for help because her husband had fallen out of bed and was not moving. Police and health personnel came to the scene, but they could only confirmthe death of the man .
The body was transferred to the Basque Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy. Once the examination had been carried out, it was found that the victim hadseveral contusions and fractures in various parts of his body and head, and was then thought to have been beaten several times.
Thereafter, the Ertzaintza opened an investigation and finally arrested the wife of the deceased as the alleged perpetrator of the attacks.
