Ten plans to enjoy the Basque Country in September
Festivities, races, film and dance festivals, concerts and vintage, September is a month full of proposals in the Basque Country.
September comes full of plans for all tastes and ages. From the tradition of Lekeitio to the red carpet of Donostia, from the vineyards of Rioja Alavesa to the stages of Iparralde, there will be countless opportunities to get to know Euskal Herria from one end to the other.
The cultural agenda will also consist of music and dance festivals, concerts and gastronomic proposals.
1. St. Antolines and Goose Day, Lekeitio
September 1-8 · Lekeitio (Bizkaia)
Lekeitio will celebrate the festivities of San Antolín with a week full of activities and festivities. Among all the appointments of the program stands out the Day of the Goose, one of the most popular traditions of the town, which every year gathers thousands of people around the port. It is one of the main festive events of the Basque coast in early September.
2. Ravel festival, classical music in the French Basque Country

3. Regatas de la Concha, an inescapable appointment in Donostia

The two days of the Regatasde la Concha will fill the bay of San Sebastián with trainers and amateurs. The competition is also much more than a sporting test: on those two Sundays, the streets and beaches of San Sebastián will become some of the main meeting points of the Basque summer. The regatta will take place within the framework of the Euskal Jaiak, dates in which the Basque culture and traditions will be the protagonists.
4. FesTVal, TV returns to Vitoria
September 7-12 · Vitoria-Gasteiz
Vitoria-Gasteiz will once again become a meeting point for the world of television by the hand of the new edition of FesTVal. Presentations, premieres, encounters and familiar faces of the small screen will complete the programme, and the festival will be one of the main audiovisual quotes of September in Álava.
5. Vintage Festival of the Rioja Alavesa
13 September · Kripan (Álava)
The vintage will also have its own festival in Kripan. The Vintage Festival of Rioja Alavesa will combine tradition, gastronomy and wine to celebrate one of the most important moments of the regional calendar. You can approach the Rioja Alavesa and discover its villages and vineyards.
6. Saints, parties and concerts in Galdakao
September 12-21 · Galdakao (Bizkaia)
Galdakao will celebratethe Santakurtzak with an extensive program in which music will have a special place during the holidays, and Basque artists and groups from other countries will perform at free concerts. Among the announced names, Su Ta Gar and Tanxugueiras stand out.
7. Le Temps d'Aaimer la Danse, international dance in Biarritz
September 5-15 · Biarritz (Lapurdi)
Biarritz will become the great stage of dance for ten days by the hand of Le Temps d'Aaimer la Danse, a festival that will bring together companies and dancers from different countries and offer a program that will combine great shows with more innovative proposals.
8. Sopela Kosta Fest: surfing, music and nature
September 18-20 · Sopela (Bizkaia)
The sea will again be the protagonist of Sopela Kosta Fest, a festival that will combine surfing competitions, nature-related activities and outdoor concerts, an attractive plan to fire summer and enjoy the sea in a more relaxed atmosphere.
9. Film festival, big movie date
September 18-26 · San Sebastian
For nine days, San Sebastian will host filmmakers, performers and professionals from the international film industry . Projections, red carpets and the atmosphere of the streets will make the city one of the main cultural centres of Europe.
10. The Cat Empire, musical night in Bilbao
23 September · Bilbao
The schedule ends with the arrival in Bilbao of The Cat Empire, a band that combines jazz, funk, ska and rhythms from different corners of the world, and the Australian band will perform on Santana 27 , the final straight of September.
