More Basque cinema than ever, at the San Sebastian Film Festival
The San Sebastian Film Festival announced today, Friday, at a press conference, the Basque films participating in its 73rd edition, from 19 to 27 September, in which 38 Basque productions (27 feature films, five medium films, three short films and three series) will be shown at the San Sebastian Festival as a whole, more than ever.
Alauda Ruiz de Azua (Querer, Cinco lobitos) will present the film Los domingos en route to the Golden and Silver Shells, the co-production of the Basque producer Los tigres Kowalski and the Basque film Maspalomas by José Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi, the story of a man who, after living in the Canary Islands, will return to San Sebastian.
In this section they will also be shown, but out of competition, the feature film directed by Karmele Asier Altuna based on Kirmen Uribe's novel Elkarrekin esnatzeko ordua and the noir series of four episodes Zeru ahoak (Koldo Almandoz), the first series in Euskera ever programmed in the Official Section.
In addition, Irati Gorostidi will release the feature film Aro berria in the New Directors section, and in the Latin Horizons section they have selected the co-production of La misteriosa mirada del flamenco Irusoin.
Zinemira Award
On the other hand, the Zinemira Prize will be awarded to the filmmakers Telmo Esnal and Asier Altuna, 20 years after the presentation of the film Aupa Etxebeste! at the San Sebastian Film Festival itself.
