The Etxepare Basque Institute and NABO (North American Basque Organizations) have signed a partnership agreement to promote and strengthen the teaching of the Basque language at the Boise Festival in the United States.
It is a "strategic agreement that strengthens the commitment of the Basque Government to the Basque diaspora and helps to consolidate the Basque Country as an element of cohesion of the people", explained Etxepare.
The agreement is part of the\ u00A0 Euskara Munduan programme that Etxepare has been conducting since 2018, with the aim of disseminating the knowledge of the Euskera among Basque communities around the world and facilitating the transmission of the language to new generations.
The lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, has stated that "the agreement with NABO is much more than a pedagogical commitment, it is a strategic step in the internationalization of the Basque Country and in the global projection of the Basque Country".

Language is one of our main identity signs, and keeping it alive in the diaspora is strengthening our global community.
"Language is one of our main signs of identity and keeping us alive in the diaspora is strengthening our global community. We want the new generations of Basques abroad not only to know their roots, but also to be able to live in Basque. That is why this agreement represents an investment in cultural cohesion, in a shared identity and in the future," he added.
Finally, he pointed out that "this step implies recognition of the fundamental role played by the Euskal Etxeak as transmitters of the Basque language and identity".
The purpose of the agreement is twofold: ontheone hand, to bring and adapt the model successfully developed in Argentina to the United States , where people from the Basque communities learn Basque and train as teachers to teach in their Euskal Etxeak.
In addition to the acquisition of the language, they receive specific teaching training and pedagogical materials, which allows the Euskal Etxeak to be autonomous intheir teaching offer, without the need to depend on the teachers who have left the Basque Country.
On the other hand, we want to increase the number of Basque centres in the United States that can teach Basque, by combining face-to-face, online or both.
