The Basque Government condemns the riots in Vitoria: "These are very serious events that violate coexistence"
The mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Maider Etxebarria, the PP parliamentarian Ainhoa Domaica and the unions SiPe, Euspel and ESAN have also strongly condemned what happened in the Alavesa capital, with 19 people arrested and 19 Ertzainas injured in the riots.
The Deputy Security Officer Ricardo Ituarte has condemned this morning's riots in Vitoria-Gasteiz, in which 19 people have been arrested and20 Ertzainas have been slightly injured, as well as significant material damage.
The riots took place at noon in the Plaza de la Provincia, just after the start of the rally called by the Spanish Falange for "unity", which soon spread to several streets in the centre of the Alavesa capital, where containers have been burned.
Ituarte strongly condemns what happened: "These are very serious events that run counter to coexistence and have no place in our society. Unfortunately, the rally called by a group of fascists has received a response from the Basque fascists. Once again, they have directly attacked the Ertzainas who were monitoring the order and security of the citizens. We will not tolerate events that lead to past times. "
The Deputy Security Minister also stressed: "We would like to express our solidarity with the injured Ertzainas and with all those who have been affected in one way or another by the disturbances caused by these radicals."

Euspel expresses its "absolute and unconditional support" for the 20 wounded Ertzainas and calls for the staffing increase to at least 9,000 Ertzainas.
Theunion ESAN has agreed that "today's riots show that the Ertzaintza does not have enough staff to deal with dangerous situations with guarantees."

The 19 arrested for Sunday's riots in Vitoria following the Falange event have been released
The detainees were charged with a crime of public disorder for throwing stones and various materials at agents of the security apparatus. They were also involved in the counter-demonstration against the action of Falange Española.
