Pradales has asked the Ministry of Health "not to lay stones to hinder the improvement of the Basque health system"
He argues that the 2025-2032 plan envisages investments ranging from the "smallest health center" in hospitals to "cutting-edge technology."
The lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, has asked the Ministry of Health to listen to the proposals made by the Basque Government to improve the health system in the Basque Country and not to put "stones in the way of hindering the improvement of the Basque health system", a statement made during the presentation of the Health Infrastructure and Equipment Plan 2025-2032, which envisages a historic investment of 1.6 billion over the next eight years.
The plan includes activities in Primary and Hospital Care, with new health centres, hospitals, enlargements, reforms and advanced technology, from basic equipment to cutting-edge innovation such as protontherapy against cancer. Prominent projects include the new hospital in Toulouse, the Durango High Resolution Centre and several new health centres.
Pradales has defended the Basque health model as its own, public and universal system, centered on people and based on values of equity, solidarity and proximity. It has also highlighted the strengthening of health personnel, with the incorporation of more than 2,100 professionals, which reduces temporality and improves care, including mental health.
Finally, the lehendakari has stressed that, in the face of cuts in other European countries, the Basque Country is committed to greater investment in health, to improve prevention, early detection and the quality of service, with the aim of "building the Osakidetza of the future".
