Miguel Ángel Montes, mayor of Iruña de Oca: "There has been no personal or material damage, everything is under control."

After midnight, an earthquake of magnitude 4, with a Iruña Okan epicentro, has shaken Álava. According to the mayor himself, Miguel Ángel Montes, there has been no damage in the town. In addition, the mayor has conveyed his tranquillity pending the reports and conclusions of the experts of the Basque Government and the Provincial Council of Álava.

Hurricane Melissa has been strengthened following the destruction of Jamaica and has risen to level 4 as it approaches Cuba

Hurricane Melissa has reached level 4 again, on a scale of 5, according to the latest report of the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC). With maximum winds of 215 km/h wind, the hurricane is located 175 km southwest of Guantánamo (Cuba) and is heading east of the island. Melissa crossed Jamaica as a category 5 hurricane with winds of more than 280 km/h and then weakened until it was reinforced on its way to Cuba.
