The cement cross was built in memory of Carlos de Borbón and Orleans (uncle of Juan Carlos I), who died in Morkaiko during the Civil War.

The socialist Ramón Jáuregui, the historic militant of the left abertzale Tasio Erkizia and the former MEP of EA Gorka Knörr have recalled the great tension in the streets of the Basque Country during the last years of Francoism. 

Fifty years ago, on 20 November 1975, Francisco Franco, the dictator who ruled Spain for almost four decades, died as a result of medical problems that became apparent in the last weeks of his life.

"We know the truth, but we are still waiting for justice," said the families of the victims.

EH Bildu has appeared together with victims of Francoism and state violence and has called for participation in the demonstration on 22 November.

The Ministry of Culture informs the Francisco Franco Foundation of the initiation of the proceedings, explaining in a resolution of 37 pages the reasons for the dissolution, including the apology of Francoism and the humiliation of the victims.

On the 50th anniversary of his arrival on the throne, the emeritus king of Spain has pointed out that on 23 February 1981, not one, there were three coups d'état. 

They will remember the last gunmen of Francoism with a round table where two writers will talk about these events on the occasion of Dictatorship Victims Day.

The lehendakari has defended the action of the Ertzaintza on 12 October on several streets in the centre of the Alavesa capital, where radical groups burned containers and caused extensive material damage following a rally called by the Spanish Falange.

On 23 February 1981, the Civil Guard Antonio Tejero entered the Congress of Deputies to the cry of "Stop all!" After the failed coup d'état, he was expelled from the Civil Guard for military rebellion and sentenced to 30 years' imprisonment, serving only half of his sentence, and released in 1996.

A question by Mertxe Aizpurua (EH Bildu) on measures to end the exaltation of Francoism has provoked a fierce confrontation between the Socialist Party and the People's Party. In his reply to EH Bildu's parliamentary spokesman, Pedro Sánchez has announced that a catalogue of Franco symbols will be drawn up that will be removed from the streets.

Sanchez made this announcement at the Government Control Session in the plenary of Congress in response to a question from EH Bildu's parliamentary spokeswoman, Mertxe Aizpurua, who asked him what measures the government will take to "end the exaltation of Francoism."

The detainees were charged with a crime of public disorder for throwing stones and various materials at agents of the security apparatus. They were also involved in the counter-demonstration against the action of Falange Española.
