Several explosions were heard in the early morning hours of Saturday in Caracas, but no further details have been provided so far. Venezuela has denounced the "threats" of US President Donald Trump's government for its military deployment in the Caribbean and warnings of ground attacks.

Aircraft have been heard along with the explosions, and some of the explosions have occurred at the country's main military base, Fort Tiuna, west of the city, and at the military base of La Carlota.

So far, neither the Pentagon nor the US Government nor Venezuela have confirmed the attack mentioned by Trump. If confirmed, it would be the first US attack on Venezuelan soil.

The Government has stressed that the decision has been taken "to ensure strict respect for human rights".

The Chavista government has described the incident as an act of "piracy" and has also denounced the "forced disappearance" of the crew.

The White House said yesterday that the US was the founder of the Venezuelan oil industry, and that the nationalization of that industry in Caracas in 1976 was the "biggest robbery" ever committed against Americans.

The US president has stressed that "Maduro's illegitimate regime is using stolen oil to finance drug terrorism, human trafficking, murder, and kidnapping, among others."

The United States has seized and confiscated an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela as part of Washington's naval military deployment in the Caribbean since August. Caracas has described it as a "blatant robbery" and has announced that it will report this "serious international crime" to foreign authorities.

In recent weeks, several hypotheses had been circulating as to whether Machado would arrive in Oslo to receive the prize, as the opposition leader had not appeared in public since last January, and it would not have been easy to circumvent the vigilance of Nicolas Maduro's government.

After not appearing publicly since January, the Venezuelan opposition leader has gone out on the hotel balcony in Oslo to greet his followers.

On Wednesday afternoon, supporters of the Venezuelan opposition Maria Corina Machado took part in the traditional torch procession that has crossed central Oslo until it ended in front of the hotel where the laureate was to stay.

TheVenezuelan opposition leader should receive the Nobel Peace Prize today. In the last few hours, it was announced that Ana Corina, the daughter of Sosa Machado, would receive the award.

According to the Norwegian media NRK, citing sources from the Nobel Academy, Maria Corina Machado will not participate in the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Nobel Academy director says her whereabouts are unknown, but "she is not in Norway." 

The organizers have said they can't tell at the moment when and how Machado will arrive at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

The Venezuelan opposition has assured the Nobel Institute that he will travel to the Norwegian capital. If so, it would be Machado's first public appearance since August 2024. The head of the Nobel Peace Committee has described the trip as "dangerous" because of the reprisals that Nicolas Maduro's government may take against Machado.

In 130 cities around the world, protests have been called against the Venezuelan government and  next Wednesday to celebratetheaward of the Nobel Peace Prize to the opposition representative .

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has confirmed that he has spoken to his US colleague, Donald Trump, amid tensions over the country's military deployment in the Caribbean and the crisis of air connectivity in the oil nation. According to Maduro, the White House contacted the Miraflores Palace (the seat of the Venezuelan government in Caracas) "about ten days ago" (it could be 23 November, but it did not specify the date).

The President of the United States does not rule out the possibility of bombing other countries: "Anyone who produces drugs or sells them in the United States is in the spotlight."

After the ultimatum, Trump announced the closure of Venezuelan airspace. 

Last weekend, US President Donald Trump said Venezuela's airspace would be "completely closed." However, it is not closed, as this matter concerns only the Venezuelan authorities.
