The Venezuelan Supreme has replaced Delcy Rodriguez, but Trump has said the US will lead the country "until a safe, adequate, and sensible transition is made."

The Boeing 757 military aircraft carrying Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro landed at around 23:00 this Saturday in New York. The leftist leader has descended from the plane with his head covered, surrounded by agents.

In early 2013, Maduro's career changed radically as he became president of Venezuela. Chavez died on March 5 and elections were called, in which Maduro won 51% of the vote, defeating Henrique Capriles.

Venezuela's only legitimate president, Nicolas Maduro, stressed on Saturday that the executive vice president of Venezezuela, after being arrested by US military forces.

Hundreds of Venezuelans have taken to the streets in broad daylight in the capital, Caracas, demanding the release of Maduro and his return to Venezuela.

The largest concentration has taken place next to the Miraflores Palace, the seat of the Venezuelan Government. 

"Following Maduro's refusal to accept a negotiated exit, the US Government has kept its promise to enforce the law. It is time for the sovereignty of the people and national sovereignty to prevail in our country," he said.

"We will rule that country as long as there is a safe, adequate and reasonable transition. In other words, we do not want Maduro to be replaced by anyone and to repeat the situation we have had in recent years," he said at a press conference from his headquarters in Florida.

The call has been disseminated through social networks and will take place this Sunday from 12.30 p.m. on the Boulevard of San Sebastián, in front of the Venezuelan consulate in Bilbao and in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Pamplona, and half an hour later they will meet in the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca de Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Thousands of people from Venezuela live in the Basque Country, many of whom are opposed to Nicolas Maduro's government. They are hopeful about what happened and hope for a peaceful transition.

PNV and EH Bildu call for "respect for international law"  The PSE-EE does not make statements and the PP calls for "prudence". According to Podemos Euskadi, "violence cannot be considered a political instrument and attacks cannot be justified.

Although it has been described as an attack on drug trafficking, experts believe that Trump's real goal is to bring about political change in Venezuela.

Russia has denounced an "armed attack" with "unfounded excuses," Spain has called for "de-escalation and moderation," and the Argentine president has celebrated the attack.

U.S. President Donald Trump reported the news through social media. 

Several explosions were heard in the early morning hours of Saturday in Caracas, but no further details have been provided so far. Venezuela has denounced the "threats" of US President Donald Trump's government for its military deployment in the Caribbean and warnings of ground attacks.

Aircraft have been heard along with the explosions, and some of the explosions have occurred at the country's main military base, Fort Tiuna, west of the city, and at the military base of La Carlota.

So far, neither the Pentagon nor the US Government nor Venezuela have confirmed the attack mentioned by Trump. If confirmed, it would be the first US attack on Venezuelan soil.

The Government has stressed that the decision has been taken "to ensure strict respect for human rights".

The Chavista government has described the incident as an act of "piracy" and has also denounced the "forced disappearance" of the crew.
