Free advocacy, counselling and the support of a group to oppose Basque demands is what the Alde Unidas platform for Linguistic Equality offers to those who are willing to opposeBasque profiles in public jobs, as published in the journal 'Argia' .
In addition, as reflected in the information published, the platform seeks people to present themselves to public job offers, even ifthey have no interest in them, so that they can file appeals. The aim would be for the courts to reject these public calls on the grounds that the Basque requirements are excessive.
According to 'Argia', in November 2024 the group originating from this platform, the Unid@s for a Real Linguistic Expediency, was formed. In June last year the name was changed, and since then it has been called the Linguistic Equality Platform .
Since then there have been ralliesand even meetings with the Basque Government or political parties. What was not apparent was the functioning of the platform in the face of public calls, which is very similar to that used by other lawyers and groups in recent years.
The published information reflects a significant example of how this platform works to reject a OPE recently released by the Errenteria City Council. "It would take someone to sign up and appeal, you don't even need to go to the exam," they spread through a Whatsapp group.
The Errenteria City Council announced on March 2 that it has decided to "suspend" the call for a Public Employment Offer to fill 25 administrative positions, after a citizen filed an appeal against the Basque profiles.
