Fourteen people arrested in Bilbao for public disorder
Several Ertzainas have been treated for bruises and injuries, causing damage to the Ertzaintza car.
The Ertzaintza arrested 14 people in the early morning hours of Sunday, the last night of the Bilbao holidays, accused of causing public disorder during the riots at two points in the Abando district of Bilbao, following a police operation in which several officers were treated.
According to the Department of Safety and Security, the first confrontation took place at 5.20 a.m. In the Abando neighbourhood, a call alerted several people to a fight and when the officers arrived they were picked up by throwing bottles.
There were about 200 people there throwing objects, according to the Ertzaintza, and the officers used riot control equipment.
Twelve persons have been arrested on charges of public disorder and transferred to police stations to carry out the necessary procedures.
All detainees are men, fiveof them between the ages of 15 and 17, and the rest between the ages of 18 and 34.
Following this action, several Ertzaintza officers have moved to the health centre to be treated for bruises and eviscerations.
The second incident took place around six o'clock in the morning, when the Bilbao Municipal Police requested assistance at another point in the same neighbourhood.
Officers of the Ertzaintza have come to the scene and arrested two persons by force, as well as a 17-year-old under the Public Security Act, who are two 19-year-old men accused of public disorder.
