The ultra-right-wing Jose Antonio Kast wins the election in Chile

The ultra-right-wing Jose Antonio Kast has won the presidential election in Chile over the leftist Jeannette Jara. 

With 99% of the votes cast, the 59-year-old ultra-right gets 58.1% of the votes, while the left gets 41.8% of the votes in yesterday's election. 

Caste has won in the 16 regions of Txikis and the strongholds that have belonged to the left. The second largest victoryis  since Chile returned to democracy. 

Castecampaignedfor General Augusto Pinochet in the 1988 plebiscite .  Izan will also be the first pro-Pinochet politician to reach Moneta. 

Kast, the father of nine children and a fervent Catholic, will receive the presidency on March 11 at the hands of progressive Gabriel Boric, a rival of Caste in the 2021 election. 

Caste appreciated the congratulations and expressed his desire for a "very orderly, respectful transition. "

The campaign has been conducted almost monothematically around crime and the increase in irregular migration, although Chile is one of the safest countries on the continent, with a murder rate of 6 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Caste, closely linked to other ultra leaders in the region, has orderedthe mass expulsion of migrants  , the criminalization of migration or the construction of maximum security prisons, with total isolation for drug traffickers.
