They're looking against the clock in Venezuela to rescue the survivors of the earthquake
The United States will deploy support teams and logistical resources following two violent earthquakes in Venezuela that have claimed hundreds of lives and injured thousands.
Venezuelan authorities have recorded 235 dead and more than 4,300 injured as a result of the 7.5 and 7.2 magnitude earthquakerecorded there, according to the latest official count.
Venezuela's Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado, has explained that most of the wounded are mild, but there are also serious cases that have required surgical intervention, and that the state of La Guaira has the largest number of patients and hospitals are at the limit of their capacity.
According to the authorities, the national emergency system has been activated since the earthquake and coordination between public and private hospitals has been strengthened to deal with the emergency, with some 30 replicas in La Guaira, Caracas and Yaracuy in particular.
At the same time, the United States has announced the dispatch of response and logistical support teams to assist in emergency work in the South American country.
The U.S. Southern Command has determined that efforts have been made to distribute humanitarian aid, transport rescue teams and assess damage, and that Washington has announced $150 million in emergency aid.
The US authorities have stressed that this is done at the request of Caracas, and that operations will focus on logistical and humanitarian support to accelerate response to the disaster.

The deceased is Alazne Solabarrieta , 65, who was in her home at the time of the earthquake with her husband, who is injured in a hospital.
