CPI in the Basque Country fell by a tenth in July and rose 0.2% in Navarre
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Basque Country in July fell by a tenth from the previous month and rose by 3% from the same month in 2024.
According to data published this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in the first seven months of 2025 prices have risen 2.1% in the Basque Autonomous Community.
Navarre
Navarre closed July with an annual inflation rate of 2.7%, the same as the state average, and a monthly increase of 0.2%.
According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), this year the Foral Community recorded a 2.2% increase in prices.
By group, Navarra has seen an increase in the number of hotels, cafes and restaurants (2.6 per cent), leisure and culture (2 per cent), transport (1 per cent), housing (0.6 per cent), medicine (0.2 per cent) and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.1 per cent).
They have fallen: Clothing and footwear (-9.8 per cent), Communications (-1.8 per cent), Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.7 per cent), Household appliances (-0.4 per cent) and Others (-0.3 per cent).
State
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose in July to 2.7 per cent year-on-year, four tenths higher than the previous month, due to rising electricity and fuel prices, while the lower rate (without energy or fresh food) rose by a tenth, to 2.3 per cent.
The National Institute of Statistics (INE) confirmed on Wednesday the data advanced two weeks ago and estimated that food inflation last month had moderated by a tenth, to 2.7%.
The acceleration of inflation in July is mainly due to the housing group, which increased its annual rate by 2.5 points, to 6.7 per cent, due to the rise in electricity prices compared to the fall in July of the previous year.
It is followed by the transport group, with an annual rate of 0.2%, one point higher than in June, as a result of the higher prices of fuel for personal vehicles and lubricants.
This group was also affected by the increase in combined passenger transport and air passenger transport, which remained stable the previous year.
