Strike at the Bilbao Municipal Police switchboard during Big Week
The ELA union has called for a strike at the company Lanalden, subcontracted by the Bilbao City Council to manage the Municipal Police's switchboard during the Big Week that will take place from 16 to 24 August.
The union has denounced in a statement that the City Council and the company do not want to negotiate an improvement in the working conditions of the five professionals who make up the service.
The workers are calling for improvements to ensure "decent" working conditions that allow for conciliation and the right to rest, so that this service "will remain at a standstill during these holidays to combat precariousness in the telemarketing sector".
Currently, five people offer a24-hour 365 day service per year, which means, among other things, "not having a vacation," the union has criticized.
In addition, ELA has stated that the staff "not only perform the duties inherent in the switchboard, but also perform functions that go far beyondthose of the State Contact Center Convention, such as: official information on the local police; processing of leave and leave of officials; opening of files and citizens' applications ".
