More tourists in July in hotels in the Basque Country and more overnight stays
The increase is due to the influx of foreign visitors, with a decrease in arrivals from the Spanish State in July of this year. On the other hand, in the first seven months of 2025, entries have increased by 4.0% and overnight stays by 4.8%.
Hotel tickets in the Basque Autonomous Community have increased by 1.5% in July this year and overnight stays by 2.3% compared to the same month last year, according to data released this Thursday by the Basque Institute of Statistics Eustat.
Specifically, hotel tickets were 392,794 in the recently completed July and overnight stays were 837,143.
Foreign tourism, on the other hand, has increased with fewer tourists from the Spanish state than last year.
By territory, 50,634 entries and 110,164 overnight stays have been registered in Álava, which is 8.6% less than the previous year and 2.1% less, respectively.
In Bizkaiathere have been a total of 182,820 tickets and 360,833 overnight stays, an increase of 5.2% and 3.2%.
In Gipuzkoa, 159,340 tickets were counted in July 2025, which is 0.9% more than in July 2024, and 336,146 overnight stays, 2.8% more than in the same month of the previous year.
As for the capitals, the number of entries has increased by 7.7% in Bilbao compared to July of the previous year, with a decrease of 1.6% in Donostia-San Sebastián and 11.9% in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
