Massive mobilizations in Bilbao, San Sebastian, Vitoria and Pamplona for Palestine
LAB, CCOO, UGT, Steilas, ESK, CGT/LK, Etxalde and Hiru have held joint demonstrations in the capitals at 12:30 noon, while ELA has called for demonstrations in the four capitals of Hego Euskal Herria from 11:45 a.m.
Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Bilbao, San Sebastian, Vitoria and Pamplona in support of Palestine and in protest at the genocide in Gaza.
Convened by the trade union majority (LAB, CCOO, UGT, Steilas, ESK, CGT/LK, Solidari, Etxalde and Hiru), the demonstrations have been massive in the four capitals of Hego Euskal Herria.
LAB General Secretary Garbiñe Aranburu has highlighted the success of the call for unemployment and strike: "It is a successful day of unemployment and mobilization and we have once again shown that Euskal Herria is with Palestine."
In the same vein, the representative of CCOO, Iñigo Garduño, said: "Our employers, our companies and our institutions must break off relations with Israel because we cannot do business with genocide."
ELA , for its part, has made its own calls for mobilisation in the four capitals of Hego Euskal Herria, starting at 11:45 a.m.. In the mobilisation in Bilbao, the General Secretary of ELA, Mitxel Lakuntza, has made a direct appeal to employers and governments: "You cannot buy anything from Israel, you can sell nothing.
On the other hand, theGernika-Palestine Association has called at 7.30 p.m. for a cacerolada protest in front of the municipalities under the slogan "Genocide STOP! Commitment to Palestine. Break with Israel! Rupture avec Israel!"
