Industrial activity in the Basque Country grew by 0.8% year-on-year in November, but fell by 1.0% in the month
According to Eustat data, equipment has increased year after year, despite the monthly decline in Álava and the decline in activity.
Industrial production in the Basque Country increased by 0.8% in November 2025 compared to the same month of the previous year, once the impact of the work calendar had been corrected, although compared to October activity fell by 1.0%, according to Eustat data.
By economic destination, consumer goods showed a negative year-on-year performance, with a decrease of 1.5 per cent, mainly due to the decline in non-durable goods (-3.4 per cent), which could not be fully offset by the increase in durable goods (+6.7 per cent).
Equipment recorded a significant year-on-year growth of 3.7 per cent, while intermediate goods reduced production by 1.1 per cent, while the energy sector grew by 2.2 per cent compared to November 2024.
By territory, the evolution has been uneven, with a year-on-year decline of 7.9 per cent in Álava, hampered by the fall in equipment and intermediate goods, while industrial production has increased in Bizkaia (+4.0 per cent) and Gipuzkoa (+2.4 per cent).
Among the sectors with the greatest weight in the Basque industry were Machinery and Equipment (+3.1%), Transport Material (+2.7%) and Metallurgy and Metal Products (+0.6%), while production fell in Wood, Paper and Graphic Arts (-4.2%) and Electrical Energy, Gas and Steam (-2.9%).
