Chinese company Hithium will invest 405 million in Navarre with a battery plant that would create 746 jobs
The Chinese company Hithium Energy Storage Technology will invest 405 million euros in the development of energy storage systems in Navarre, a project that could generate 746 direct jobs in the Foral Community.
The investment was discussed at a meeting held in La Moncloa, Madrid, in which Chivite, the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the CEO and founder of Hithium, Jeff Wu, also attended by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, and the Minister of Industry of the Navarre Government, Mikel Irujo.
The Asian company specializes in battery and stable energy storage systems (BESS) and studies the implementation of a short-term industrial project in Navarre, including the Eskiroz BSH plant.
The Spanish Government stresses that the project is in line with the energy transition strategy and with the objective of strengthening the electricity storage value chain, which is considered essential for the integration of greater production of renewable energy.
The meeting is also part of the talks that the Spanish Government, the Navarre Government and the Chinese company have been holding for months. The Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan aims to achieve a storage capacity of 22 gigawatts by 2030 to help integrate renewable generation into the electricity system.
