Iberia will cancel direct flights to Cuba from June due to the energy crisis
For the duration of the suspension, passengers wishing to travel to Cuba will be offered by Iberia to go to Panama and from there to the island. Iberia will keep its offices open in Havana.
Iberia will temporarily suspend direct flights from Madrid to Cuba from June onwards. The decision is underpinned bythe significant drop in demand for flights due to theenergy crisison the island.
The Spanish airline has explained that the intention is to recover this line from November if "conditions" permit.
In April, the flight from Madrid to Cuba will leave three times a week, and in May, twice.

Since 9 February, due to the energy crisis, flights from Cuba to Madrid have made a technical stop in Santo Domingo to fill the fuel tank.
For the time being, the suspension will only affect Cuba and has not affected the rest of Iberia's travel. The company expects to receive 21.4 million passengers by this summer.
