Pressure on the Ministry of Health will increase in the third week of medical strike
The Department of Health has reported that these protests have led to a 50% increase in waiting lists and has urged the minister to reach an agreement with the unions.
As of today, doctorsfrom all over the Spanish State have been called to the third unemployment in a week of 2026 due tothe failureof the negotiations with the Ministry of Health . They are also going to face this third strike in a climate of accusations, since the Spanish Ministry and the Strike Committee have reproached each other for manipulations in the talks.
The last unemployment took place in March and since then they have met four times, including the breakdown of negotiations due to trade unions' refusal to mediate the medical forum and the platform of patient organizations. However, both sides resumed negotiations after Easter to advance the resolution of the conflict.
According to Health Counselor Alberto Martínez, waiting listsin the ACV have increased by 50% since November, so he has asked the minister to sit at the negotiating table and not get up until an agreement is reached.
In recent days, however, obstacles have reappeared intheway of the reform of the Framework Statute due to the open conflict E, which has led to theresignationof the Spanish Minister of Health, Monica García by the Strike Committee and other groups.
But the minister, as before, has shown his intention to maintain his "vocation of impulse and public service," as he declared last Thursday in the Senate.
In this regard, the Strike Committee accuses the Spanish Ministryof "manipulating the story" and clarifies that Garcia's offer has been rejected as "legally unworkable" because "the current regulations prevent the creation of its own negotiating tables for doctors and practitioners".
Thus, this week will be the third unemployment in the Spanishstate\u00A0 health centres, and if the conflict is not resolved, the strike will be extended until June.
