Bilbao will set a rate of 6.5 euros for those staying in tourist apartments per person; 5 euros for luxury hotels
The Bilbao City Council has approved the freezing of municipal taxes and fees for 2027 for the second consecutive year, together with the establishment of a fee of 6.5 euros per day for accommodation in tourist flats, the maximum amount permitted by the regulations.
Finance Councilor Carlos Urgoiti has explained to municipal groups that the government team has decided to keep rates frozen for the second consecutive year, with the aim of leaving families with greater economic capacity in the face of continued price increases.
The main novelty of the Tax Ordinances 2027 will be the entry into force of the Tourist Accommodation Tax, which, according to Urgoiti, the City Council intends to introduce "with criteria of moderation and balance".
The councilman has warned that tax rates will be set above the minimum laid down in the regulations "so that those who temporarily enjoy our city can make a reasonable contribution to the financing of public services, without undermining Bilbao's competitiveness as a tourist destination ".
In this regard, it proposes the application of the maximum fees provided for in the regulations for tourist apartments and tourist homes.
Five-star hotels, five euros.
The Bilbao City Council proposes to charge €5per person per night for accommodation in five-star hotels, €4 per night, €2 per three-star hotel, €1.5 per two-star hotel, €1 star hotel, and the same amount for accommodation in pensions, hostels, rural houses and campsites.
On the other hand, those who arrive in the city on tourist cruises will pay EUR 6 per night, while those who rent a full tourist dwelling will have to pay EUR 6.50 per night, the maximum rate proposed by the City Council.
