The discount system for the Mugi card will be modified and users of nursing homes will have more money per month for their expenses, as a result of the agreement reached between PNV, PSE-EE and Elkarrekin Podemos to push through this year's budgets.
The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa will change the system of discounts of the Mugi card to enhance the use of public transport. Those who make the least use of the train or bus (less than 15 trips per month) will pay more. The ticket per route will cost 66 cents (7 cents more than at present). The occasional ticket, for its part, will experience a significant increase, from the current EUR 1.95 to EUR 2.25 (15% more expensive).
In the words of Gipuzkoa MP Eider Mendoza, these changes are intended not only to loyalty and reward daily users , but also to reduce the use of the physical paper card in order to advance the ecological and digital transition.
José Ignacio Asensio, for his part, has insisted that these measures "reflect that progress can be made in social justice and climate action at the same time" because public transport is advocated, families are supported and new steps are taken to reduce emissions.
