BBVA earns $6.051 billion until June, 11% more, driven by recurrent revenue and credit increases
The agency has announced an extraordinary new stock buyback program worth EUR 2 billion, the first tranche of which, EUR 1 billion, will begin on August 5.
The BBVA has made a profit of 6,051 million euros in the first half of 2026, 11.1% more than in the same period of the previous year. Ehas informed the National Securities and Exchange Commission of Spain (CNMV) on Thursday that the increase in profit has been driven by the good behavior of recurrent income and the increase incredit activity, after increasing credit to companies by 13% and private individuals by 7%.
The interest margin reached 15,164 millionin the first half of the year, 20.3 per cent higher than in June 2025 (18.8 per cent higher at constant exchange rates); and the total income of the group, represented by gross margin, increased to 21,159 million, 17.3 per cent higher (16.9 per cent higher at constant rates).

Net fees
According to the BBVA, the profits of the first half of the year have mainly been driven by the evolution of the interest margin, the growth of which has offset the increase in operating expenses, which have increased by 17.9%, and the endowments for impairment of financial assets, which have increased by 26.6% compared to June 2025, in the context of credit growth.
Net fees, which together with the interest margin constitute recurring income from the banking business, have risen to a year-on-year rate of 14%, and loans and advances to customers have risen to 10.6%.
On the other hand, the group's customer resources have increased by 19.3 per cent year-on-year (6.9 per cent this year) and customer deposits have increased by 19 per cent year-on-year (6.1 per cent this year), while out-of-balance funds (investment funds, pension schemes, managed portfolios and others) have increased by 8.7 per cent compared to December.

- Mexico: 2,979 million euros (+8.2% year-on-year).
- Spain: 2,172 million euros (+2.3% year-on-year).
- South America: 556 million euros (+33.6% year-on-year).
- Turkey: 532 million euros (+29.1% year-on-year).
- Other business (United States, Europe and Asia): 508 million euros (+60% year-on-year).
