Tickets to tourist apartments in the Basque Country increased by 9.7% last July and overnight stays by 23.3%, compared with the same period last year, according to information released this Friday by the Basque Institute of Statistics, Eustat, while tickets to rural accommodation increased by 2.8% compared with a 5.6% decrease in overnight stays.

The number of travellers staying in tourist apartments in the Basque Country has increased by 9.7% compared with last July, from 38,875 to 120,401 overnight stays in July, an increase of 23.3%.
Foreigners accounted for 57.4 per cent of trips, while overnight stays accounted for 55.5 per cent.
Eustat calls tourist apartments each accommodation unit offered under the responsibility of a business operating unit that manages the block or complex.
The average stay was 3.10 days (2.75 days last year).
