CAF has been awarded the supply of 15 railway tram units in the Paris region for 150 million
The 15 hybrid trains designed to run on the city's streets and platforms, as well as on a conventional train, are designed to expand line T13, extending to the town of Acheres.
The Paris transport authority has awarded CAF a contract of more than EUR 150 million forthesupply of 15 railway tram units for line T13, which also includes the possibility of supplying spare parts for the fleet and more trains, the Guipuzcoana company reported on Wednesday.
The 15 hybrid trains designed to run both on the city's streets and platforms and on a conventional train will be used to expand line T13 to the town of Acheres.
Line T13, opened in 2022, offers service in the Grand Contournement Ouest (GCO) area of Paris, connecting daily the municipalities of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole, in the department of Yvelines. The route also crosses the municipalities of Mareil-Marly, L "Étang-la-Ville, Noisy-le-Roi, Bailly and Versailles.
Comfort and accessibility
Based on CAF's URBOS tram platform, the proposed rolling stock will consist of seven articulated modules mounted on five bogies. Units 42 metres long and 2.65 metres wide will provide a total capacity of 256 passengers: 86 seats and 170 standing seats. In addition, 75% of the units will have a low floor to facilitate access and internal mobility for persons with reduced mobility.
Passengers will also have HVAC systems and dynamic information screens located on the doors and platform.
The new rolling stock is planned to be manufactured at the CAF plant in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, in the Upper Pyrenees region.
This new contract is in addition to the contract signed earlier this year by CAF with SNCF Voyageurs for the supply of 10 regional trains from the Régiolis platform for the New Aquitaine region.
Through all these projects, "CAF has strengthened its industrial and commercial presence in France, becoming one of the company's leading markets," the company said.
