A demonstration has been called in Pamplona to protest that the Testa fund wants to leave 500 families on the streets
The neighbours of Etxabakoitz, Buztintxuri, Artika, Sanduzelai and Rochapea of Pamplona, with the support of the LAB union, have announced a demonstration for the right to housing on 17 October.
Testa is a subsidiary of Blackstone, the world's largest real estate investment fund, which a few weeks ago has begun sending letters to neighbors informing them that when their lease expires, they will not be renewed and will have to leave their home.
They report that these homes were built with public money and that tenants have been paying rent for more than 20 years. They also report that many of them are in a vulnerable situation.
These 500 homes lost their VPO rating about 10 years ago and their current owner is Testa. Neighbors report that the company's intention is to sell their homes on the private market at an exorbitant price. .
They urge the Government of Navarre to intervene and make these homes part of the public park, to stop threats of eviction and to sign indefinite contracts to ensure residential stability.
The demonstration will depart from the Baluarte on 17 October at 5.30 p.m.
