Aena has tendered the management of improvements to Bilbao airport for almost EUR 23 million
The new design envisages, among other things, the installation of six additional platform and boarding gateways for the terminal.
Aena has tendered for 22.9 million euros the contract for thetechnical direction and management ofproject management of improvement projects planned at Bilbao airport , with a deadline of 60 months.
Aena reported on Friday that the document includes comprehensive project management planned from planning to construction and commissioning.
Aena plans a total investment of 364.5 million euros for Bilbao airport for the period 2027-2031.
The planned actions provide for the reconfiguration of the terminal building , including an extension of its length at the ends and the passenger management area, to improve the capacity and functionality of the billing and security and border control processes.
Security filters will be significantly increased , highlighting the creation of a non-Schengen boarding area that will allow centralised passport controls.
In the new design of the Bilbao terminal, the platform will be adapted to make it compatible with the evolution of the terminal building, with the installation of six additional boarding gatewaysand new parking spaces for five aircraft.
The actions will also include the improvement and modernization of passenger areas and services, such as waiting areas, toilets, children's areas, facilities for persons with reduced mobility and shopping malls, as well as an increase in parking spaces.
