Works on Metro Bilbao Line 4 will last six years, between Rekalde and Matiko
According to the Basque Government's Department of Sustainable Mobility, work will begin by the end of 2027 and will have a budget of EUR 411.9 million.
The construction of Metro Bilbao Line 4 between Rekalde and Matiko is scheduled to begin at the end of 2027 and be completed in six years, according to the Basque Government's Sustainable Mobility Department on Monday. Line 4 will connect the southern neighborhoods of Bilbao and run between the stations of Matiko, Deusto, Parque, Moyua, Irala and Rekalde.
On Monday, the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV) published the final approval of the Information Study on Line 4, as well as its future connection with the Encartaciones region.
Moyua Stationwill connect with Metro n Lines 1 and 2 and Matikon Line 3, allowing connection to the Euskotren rail network.
The park stop will be located at the eastern end of Doña Casilda Park and will have three access points: to Euskadi Square, to the park and to the surroundings of the Museum of Fine Arts.
The Zabalburu station will be located north of this space and will have three accesses to the square, Alameda de San Mamés and Calle Autonomía.
Iralan Station will be "deep" (between 35 and 45 meters) and will have four accesses: Juan de Garay, Eskurtze plaza, Kirikiño Avenue and Bergara Avenue.
In Errekalde, the stop will be south of Rekalde Square and will have four accesses: Rekalde Square and Sollube/Gordoniz, Esperanto and Xalbador Streets.
Line 4 could have 17.5 million users, according to estimates by Eusko Trenbide Sarea (ETB), and will be financed by the Basque Government (55%) and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia (45%).
The start of the works is scheduled for the end of 2027, as reported by the Department of Sustainable Mobility of the Basque Government.
