A person has been arrested in Algorta for sexual assault at Old Port parties
The City Council and the Festival Commission have convened a rally today at 7 p.m. on the stairs of the Old Port.
The Getxo Local Police arrested a person in the early morning hours of Sunday at 04:47 hours for unauthorized touches on a young woman during the Old Port of Algorta (Bizkaia) festivities.
According to the City Council, the places surrounded the alleged aggressor until the arrival of the local police. The officers arrested the man and took him to the police station, where the necessary steps are being taken to bring him before the Guard Court.
Meanwhile, the City Council condemns the incident and calls for a "stronger condemnation" of any male violence and reiterates that sexual assault is not tolerated in Getxo. It also expresses its support for the victim, recalling that it has the Purple Point and municipal care resources prepared to activate protection and support protocols during the holidays.

Therefore, the City Council of Getxo and the Festival Commission of the Old Port have called for today, at 7 p.m., a rally on the stairs of the Old Port in which, together with the unanimous rejection of sexual assaults, they want to stress the importance of celebrating the holidays in a climate of respect, tranquillity and joy for all people.
In addition, the Commission recalls that, in addition to the Purple Point, there is a protocol of action to provide care for victims and to activate all necessary support resources.
