A member of the 'Koala brothers' group has been arrested in Bilbao under an arrest warrant
The young man was found guilty of a traffic offence after being missing for several months, despite a warrant for imprisonment for attempting to kill Alexandru Ionita.
The Bilbao Municipal Policehave arrested , a member of the 'Koala Brothers' group who beat Alexandru Ionita in 2021. He had a search and arrest warrant for the 22-year-old since .
The arrest took place in the early morning of 25 August at 04:00. A Municipal Police patrol intercepted the young man in the direction of the Zorroza district of Bilbao. He was on a bicycle without light on Montevideo Avenue. When the officers stopped him to file a complaint about a traffic offence, they asked for documentation, entered the data into the system and found that he had a warrant to be imprisoned.
The young man arrested today was initially sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment, but the High Court of Justice of the Basque Country reduced the sentence of (TSJPV) to seven years, five months and 29 days, applying apalliative for mental anomaly .
In April, he was granted provisional release after serving half his sentence, with the obligation to appear in court twice a month. However, after the final Supreme Court ruling in May, did not return to prisonand has since been missing.
The Ertzaintza then confirmed the involvement of the assailants inother robberies and attacksin the area that same night, and that they were acting in an organized manner. A total ofsix adults were sentenced, four of them to twenty years, andeight minors received various judicial measures.
Meanwhile, Alexandru continues to recover in a vegetative state where heneeds continuous care . According to sources close to the family, can't talk or walk, but has achieved small improvement engines thanks to intensive clinical and home therapies.
