With116,123 students, Navarrebegan the 2025/2026 school yearon Thursday, of whom 67.8 per cent (78,800) are enrolled in the public education network, 36,930 in concerted private schools and 493 in non-concerted private schools.
According to the Foral Government, this is the first time that the enrolment rate of children enrolled inthe first cycle of Early Childhood Education between the ages of 0 and 3 in public castles has exceeded the 50% barrier. In this second year in which this cycle is offered free of charge, thenumber of persons attending public school is 50.09%.
The Education Counsellor of the Government of Navarre, Carlos Gimeno, has presented the data for this course, which includes 4,754 new 3-year-olds , of whom 2,901 will be enrolled in public network schools (61%) and 1,853 in concerted schools, of which 3,350 (70%) have enrolled in language models A and G and 1,404 (B and D) .
According to language models, a total of 88,677 pupils will be enrolled in models A (teaching in Spanish, with the Basque as a subject) and G (teaching in Spanish) , while 27,334in models B (teaching in Basque, with the Spanish as a subject) and D (teaching in Basque).
New developments in the new school year
The course that is now beginning will focus on the deployment of plans to strengthen students' reading and math skills.
In addition, as the first year following the signing of the Pact for Progress in Equity and Educational Quality in April, there will be declines in ratios of 20 pupils in the second cycle of Child Education, in schools with vulnerable pupils, with 1,000 hours of attention to diversity; 23 pupils from the first year of Child Education; and 23 pupils from the first year of Primary Education, from this course onwards.
The above three measures shall be transferred to subsequent courses until the reduction of ratios at all levels at each stage is completed, and the agreed ratios shall be maintained at least during the duration of the Treaty.
