The body of a minor who was dragged by a river has been found in Barcelona and his father is wanted
The vehicle of the missing persons has been found at the bottom of a ravine in very poor condition; heavy rains have caused the flow to increase to two and a half feet.
Firefighters have found the body of a minor in the car dragged by the river in Sant Quintí de Mediona (Barcelona) and are looking for the other occupant of the vehicle, who would be the father of the child.
The Conseller of the Interior of the Generalitat, Núria Parlon, has said that the body of the child "aged 11 or 12" has been found and has assumed that his father has also died, although his body has not yet been found.
The minor's body has been found in Sant Pere de Riudebitlles (Barcelona), where he died from torrential rains.
CouncillorParlon has highlighted the tragedy caused by the heavy rains in Catalonia and has indicated that the body they are looking for will be that of the child's father.
He added that about 87 firefighters will search for the body, and about 20 mosses will also assist in the search.
Apparently, his father decided to cross the river with his car, although some people told him otherwise, and then he was surprised by the sudden flood of the river, the councillor explained.
Parlon has asked for caution in the face of heavy rains.
About six and a half o'clock in the afternoon, a witness called the emergency services to warn them that the water was dragging a car and that two people were driving inside.
Nineteen fire brigades came to the scene and found the car early in the night, but no one inside.
This flood has suffered a sudden flood as a result of storms in Catalonia, which have left more than 100 litres per square metre in some areas around the Catalan capital.
Submariners have assisted in rescue work, supported by drones and dogs, and have also used a helicopter.
In statements to TV3, the mayor of Sant Quintí de Mediona, Bernat Catasus, explained that the vehicle of the missing persons has been located at the bottom of a ravine and in very poor condition, and that heavy rains have caused the bank to increase its flow to two and a half metres.
