The Ertzaintza has arrested, in collaboration with the Bilbao Municipal Police, a man accused of two crimes against sexual freedom, attempting to forcibly steal a mobile phone from a woman and injuring the man who was trying to help the victim.
On Monday night, a woman reported a sexual assault in Bilbao by a young man who, without his consent, touched her, and according to the victim, ended the abuse when the perpetrator realized he was warning the police.
On the afternoon of the following day, a young man attacked another woman who was about to enter a portal. He attacked her violently and touched her inside.
Shortly afterwards, early in the evening, a man whose description coincided with that of the perpetrator of the two previous attacks attacked another woman and beat her and threw her on the ground while stealing her mobile phone in the vicinity of the Solokoetxe neighbourhood of Bilbao.
A pedestrian who assisted the victim was also brutally beaten, and both victims had to go to a health centre to be treated for injuries caused by the aggressor.
With all this information, the Ertzaintza began to investigate the facts and to share data with the Bilbao Municipal Police, which yesterday afternoon located the aggressor on a street in Santutxu, where he was arrested on charges of sexual assault, robbery with violence and injury.
In addition, the same man had been arrested the previous day on charges of another offence against sexual freedom, in Basauri. The victim was a woman walking with her dog. The detainee, who has numerous police records, was brought before the court this morning and the guard judge ordered him to be sent to Basauri prison.
