Two 12-year-old girls allegedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl at a public school in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

As EITB has learned, the Álava Juvenile Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation this month, but has shelved the proceedings because the two alleged perpetrators are not imputable because they are under 14 years of age.

The case has now been transferred to the Department of Social Action of the Provincial Council of Álava for appropriate action.

The Ertzaintza has initiated an internal investigation to determine why the complaint lodged by the victim's mother at the police station on 4 October was not accepted.
