350 tons of salt ready in Pamplona because it will make snow and ice
The City of Pamplona has 624 bags of salt ready to be made available to schools, health centres and sports centres, depending on the needs of each moment.
In the municipal warehouse of Trinitarios in Pamplona, next to the fire department, there are 350 tons ofsalt. On Thursday and Friday it will snow and ice, due to the drop in temperatures .
In view of this weather forecast, the Pamplona City Council has activated the Snowfall Action Plan 2025-2026 with four emergency levels.
Among the resources of the Snowfall Action Plan is the Trinitarios salt warehouse , which this morning was visited by the Director of Citizen Security and Coexistence, Juan Manuel Gil Larequi, the Director of Urban Conservation and Health, Patxi Iriarte Echenique, and the Director of Social Action, Ruben Unanua Ruiz.
In this warehouse are the main road access to the city and mostof the material means of maintaining the public roads that unite the neighborhoods . The snowfall control devices are the ten vehicles, divided into six road cleaning routes. All vehicles will be mobilized and deactivated simultaneously as the Plan is activated.
As far as salt is concerned, Pamplona has two silos with a capacity of 100 tonnes. At the moment, the general warehouse on Trinitarios Street has 350 tonnes and, as winter progresses and the forecast of snowfall, the silos will be loaded up to 200 tonnes.
The City Council has 120 kilograms of basic water in four 30-kilogram containers intended for pedestrian metal bridges and 15,000 kilograms of salt in 624 sacks, which will be made available to schools, health centres and sports centres according to current needs.
The Snowfall Action Plan 2025-2026 includes a protocol for the care of the homeless, in which case care services will be mobilized when temperatures drop from 3 degrees or particularly adverse weather conditions .
