Zarautz City Council and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa have "strongly" condemned the latest macho aggression in the municipality and have conveyed their support to the victim and her families.
The City Council 's political groups have adopted an institutional declaration stating that this act is not only an "attack on physical and moral integrity", but also a "serious and unacceptable violation of human rights".
They also recall that sexual and sexist assaults "reflect the sexist violence that occurs in society and in our daily lives, both in the private and public spheres" and reject all forms of behaviour that "are not respectful of women".
For all these reasons, they have called on citizens to "deal with any sexist aggression."
For its part, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has joined the City Council's condemnation of the Institutional Protocol against Violence against Women in Gipuzkoa.
In his statement, he recalls that "events of this kind stem from a lack of equality between men and women, macho attitudes and ideas that seek to dominate and control women."
It proclaims that respect for the equality of women and men is an "inviolable right, such as the dignity of the person, sexual freedom and physical integrity".
Both organizations have called onthe public to participate in the rally that will take place this Thursday at 12:00 in the Zarautz Town Hall Square.
