A 44-year-old woman has been arrested in Barakaldo for her alleged involvement in the fire that took place on 13 November in a house on El Carmen Street. Sua was intentional, this has been the hypothesis of the Ertzaintza from the outset.
The fire started a few minutes before six o'clock in the morning on a third floor of the building, at which point several calls alerted to the fire and residents said they were asking for help from the windows. When the emergency services arrived, they found that one of the residents had fallen on the public road. Two others were still asking for help from the windows and were rescued by firefighters.
The four men, aged between 46 and 60, were treated at the scene before being transferred to the hospitals of Cruces and San Eloy. Hours later, the man who fell on the public road, a 48-year-old neighbour, died due to the severity of the injuries.
The arrested woman has been transferred to police stations to continue the proceedings and will be brought before the judicial authority once completed. The Ertzaintza keeps the investigation openfor full clarification.
