The Housing Union has succeeded in postponing the eviction of a family in Vitoria-Gasteiz
The Socialist Housing Union has reported that it has managed to delay the eviction of a vulnerable family with two minors in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
The family lives on Zapatari Street in the Old Town of the Alavesa capital and the eviction was scheduled for this Thursday. The union has reported that the City Council intends to carry out the eviction without offering a "permanent residence solution" .
The organization has indicated that this procedure is the third that has been activated in the city this year, two of which have been delayed, the first in April and now this.
It has also denounced the "nonsense" of such activities by "expelling vulnerable families to activate emergency resources for subsequent temporary relocation while housing remains closed."
In this regard, it has criticized the fact that the municipal government of Maider Etxebarria has tried to "justify these activities" by saying that "empty housing will have social use once they are empty", but "six months after the last eviction, housing remains empty".
Finally, it has called for urgent measures to be taken to protect the most disadvantaged and for "all evictions to cease".
