Bizkaia firefighters warn of accidents caused by misuse of pyrotechnics and give instructions for their use
The firefighters have explained that pyrotechnic products pose an inherent risk, both because of the substances they use and because of the way they are used ", and have recalled that every year they carry out various interventions due to their inappropriate use, especially on New Year's and New Year's days.
The fire and rescue service of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia has warned of the risk of accidental misuse of pyrotechnic devices —firecrackers, flares and fireworks — and has therefore issued a series ofrecommendations to avoid incidents in the coming holidays.
The firefighters have explained that these pyrotechnic products pose an inherent risk, both because of the substances they use and because of the way they are used, and have recalled that every year they carry out various interventions due to their inappropriate use, especially on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day .
Thus, they recommend careful reading of instructions and respect for ages.
"It is important to remember that never should carry firecrackers in your pockets, as heat or friction can cause a fuse to ignite accidentally, causing serious injuries, "they explain. Besides, no firecrackers should be thrown in places where people or animals are near, because they can cause damage, especially to the eyes and ears.
On the other hand, they have demanded that no firecrackers be introduced into bottles, jars, holes in the wall, or bonfires, "which, when detonated, may become dangerous shells." To light a pyrotechnic artifact, you have to do it from the end of the fuse, and if it doesn't explode, you have to consider it lost. If it doesn't explode, you have to wait 15 minutes before manipulating it and, if possible, spray it with water.
They also add that no firecrackers should be fired in dangerous areas such asenclosed\ u00A0, forest areas, agglomerations or near burning materials. If any fires are detected, they recommend calling 112 immediately.
Besides, it's best not to have clothes hanging on the side of the window, and to keep the plastic-covered shopkeepers folded. Finally, it is requested to close doors and windows to ensure the safety of all persons.
