The Ertzaintza inspects the big discotheques for New Year's Eve
The inspection of the smaller ones is the responsibility of the municipalities. Among other things, the Department of Safety and Security is analysing compliance with capacity, evacuation routes and fire protection.
The inspection of rooms with a capacity of more than 700 persons is the responsibility of the Ertzaintza. There are eight in the ACV as a whole: four in Bizkaia and two in Álava and Gipuzkoa.
In this campaign, in view of New Year's Eve, they are checking the security conditions of the premises, as well as whether the activity is consistent with their license. They are also monitoring evacuation routes, their proper signalling, the status of fire protection systems and the required health provision.
They are also monitoring aspects that change the usual configuration of the premises for this purpose today, whether pyrotechnics are used, how they will manage the wardrobe and other aspects that may alter the activity.
In addition, on New Year's Eve, the Ertzaintza will move to these premises to keep the capacity, access to minors, hours and closing hours under control.
