The young man arrested for the alleged murder of his father in Fuenmayor, La Rioja, used a knife to kill him.
The young man remains in custody at the Civil Guard Command while proceedings are under way, awaiting trial.
The incident occurred around 17:20 on Wednesday in that Riojana municipality of about 3,300 inhabitants, where the 19-year-old allegedly killed his 54-year-old father in an episode of gender-based violence resulting from domestic violence.
About 10 kilometres from Logroño, the Citizen Security and Crime Services of the Civil Guard of La Rioja and the officers of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police went to the town.
The alleged perpetrator of the murder was placed at the disposal of the Civil Guard at the last hour of Wednesday for the necessary proceedings and his body was transferred to the Riojano Institute of Legal Medicine.
The judicial authority has declared the proceedings secret, so the Civil Guard has stated that it will not provide further information.
