The Court of La Rioja has held its first session against a former coach of the Varea Sports Club (Logroño) and former inspector of the Osasuna Club. The prosecutor requests 46 years and nine months' imprisonment for continuing sexual abuse of minors, sexual harassment, child pornography and disclosure of secrets.
These events occurred between 2020 and 2022 , when the defendant was training on several football teams in Logroño, where the victims were between the ages of 15 and 17.
The case arose when a mother became aware of the sexual messages sent by the defendant to her son, which the victim gave to a friend of hers through screenshots, at the request of the defendant, because the young man had deleted all the conversations.
After reporting these events to the Spanish National Police in 2022, the coach was arrested and other potential victims were identified after the contents were removed from his mobile phone and tablet, including dozens of photographs ofnaked young peopletaken in costumes in sports facilities without permission.
