The Ertzaintza has arrested a woman accused of killing her partner in Gernika-Lumo in November
The investigation began when a 62-year-old man, whose body showed signs of violence, appeared dead, but was initially reported to have fallen by accident.
Agents of the Bizkaia Territorial Criminal Investigation Service (SICGLZ) of the Ertzaintza have arrested in Gernika-Lumo a 54-year-old woman accused of murder on 22 November 2025, whose partner was a 62-year-old man.
When the events came to light, the Emergency Service received a warning from a person that a neighbor had asked for help because her husband had fallen out of bed and was not responding to the stimuli. Police and health personnel came to the scene, but only confirmed that the man had died in the house.
The body was transferred to the Basque Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy, which resulted in the victim suffering multiple bruises in different parts of his body and head compatible with various strokes.
From that point on, the Ertzaintza opened an investigation and finally arrested the wife of the deceased as the alleged perpetrator of the attacks, who has been transferred to police stations and will be brought before the Gernika-Lumo Guard Court once the proceedings have been completed.
