Two men have been sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment for the simultaneous rape of a girl in Bilbao
Men aged 23 and 22 took advantage of the drunkenness of the girl they knew before to rape her on the floor of one of them in August 2024. The Hearing found that the convicts "treated the woman as a mere object or doll to the highest degree".
The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Bizkaia has sentenced two men aged 23 and 22 to 14 years' imprisonment for raping a girl "simultaneously" at the home of one of them while she was drinking.
According to the verdict, the facts, which have been declared proven, occurred on the night of August 11, 2024, when the girl celebrating her birthday and the two boys and a group of friends she had met at the Backsatage discotheque in Bilbao.
The victim stated at the trial that, at the invitation of the others, he had been "drinking cubatas and shots", and that when the premises were closed, they decided to continue the party at another boy's house, which was ultimately not encouraged.
The victim and the two assailants then went up "for a moment" to the house of one of them, according to the defendants, "for alcohol and ice," but according to friends of the girl who confirmed that the girl was drunk, they stayed "between 35 and 40 minutes" in the house where the rape took place.
During the oral hearing, the victim said that as he went up to the floor he sat down in bed and one of the boys turned off the light. She "lost consciousness" and remembered "pieces of image." The men raped him at the same time, and when he woke up he was hurt, alone and naked in the room.
The victim did not report the incident until a week later, when she tried to kill herself with the pills, and after giving positive on a sexually transmitted disease, decided to report it.
The Hearing considers that the convicts "treated the woman as a mere object or doll to the highest degree." In addition to the prison sentence, they must compensate the girl with 30,000 euros, and may not approach less than 500 metres for 15 years after serving their sentence.
